Born and raised in New York from Puerto Rican parents, Luca Santana started his musical journey at the age of 10 years old. A product of a musical family, Luca is a self-taught percussionist but has studied privately at the world renowned Eastman School of Music under Ruth Cahn. Additionally, Luca studied at the University of Miami and formed part of the well known University of Miami Salsa Orchestra under the direction of Alberto De La Reguera.
Luca has performed and toured with the likes of Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Rey Ruiz, Eddie Santiago, Lalo Rodriguez, Charlie Aponte, Hector Tricoche, Pedro Jesus, Charlie Cruz, Anthony Cruz, Edgar Joel, David Pabon, Nino Segarra, Jose Papo Rivera, David y Abraham and is currently member of the legendary Orquesta La Muralla. Luca has also performed with popular jazz bands from the Rochester, New York area such as Paradigm Shift and Riverside Soul.
In addition to performing, Luca produced and composed Upstate New York’s first and only 24 hour Latin radio station’s official jingle “Musica Pa’Gozar” for Poder 97.1 FM . Luca continues to record with his own band The Luca Santana Jazztet.
